A wee return to the Blair Atholl hills and Valerie's first time up Carn nan Gabhar via Airgiod Bhein........magic stuff but a tougher today than photos look. Plenty of fine fresh air and ample leg-stretching :D :D :D

1.jpg
Looking across the valley floor of the Allt Coire Lagain towards Beinn Beag and Airgiod Bheinn. A bit of a tramp into here today, but so worth it :)
2.jpg
Carn nan Gabhar the highest point of Beinn A'Ghlo still not in sight. We need to first go up and over Airgiod Bheinn the pointer of the two summits behind me :)
3.JPG
Valerie and Ritchie leading the way.....
4.JPG
Selfie!!! Carn Liath over my shoulder there .... lead many Scouts from all over the world up there in my time :)
5.JPG
Striding up Airgiod Bheinn, and can you believe it? I am actually in front at this point :)
(The weather is about to worsen, but it was not too serious provided our timing was still good...and it was ....)
6.JPG
Ritchie-lad, always keen to show the way :)
7.JPG
Looking down over our approach. See the path above the steep slopes dropping to the burn .....
8.JPG
Carn Liath now shrouded in chilly clag........
9.JPG
This is my type of route.....steep and straight up :)
10.JPG
Hard shell on ... actually getting pretty cold now, but with the wind being reasonably kind :)
11.JPG
Up and over now, the hard work done :)
Keeping a keen eye on the watch and assessing the day :)
12.JPG
Big cairn One, not the summit yet .....!
13.JPG
Trig point at 1121 metres above sea-level, still not the summit! Watch out for that if you are up here. The top is 200 metres further on through the chilly - clag :0
14.JPG
And we're there, yeha!
15.JPG
Great shame...no views (same last time I was here with Marty many moons ago), but we couldn't complain a fantastic climb enjoyed. Had to quickly descend to the safety of the bealach onto Braigh Coire Chruin-bhalgain....careful footwork, nae probs :)
16.JPG
Beginning the route home and planning a munchies stop :)
17.JPG
Nice crunchy snow aiding a swift drop-off :)
18.JPG
Looking for a seat .... sustenance required :)
19.jpg
One happy boy...eyeing up Valerie's oatcakes, then we're ready for the final leg back to the van parked down at Loch Moraig :)

Well done Val, Bod and Ritchie

Loved my day out on these hills despite the boggy stalkers' path which I see you managed to avoid! (or maybe it was suitably frozen over!)

Nice one...must have been really cold over that final exposed ridge to the summit.

Superb  :D

Really enjoyed Beinn a;Ghlo and seeing it with a covering of snow looks tempting for a return this winter :D Just so long as the Mountain Police aren't about of course

Long way for one, Bod, but looked well worth it in the end despite the claggy bit - these hills do look good in the snow - cheers :)
