Have been trying to go on a trip for a while to Ailsa Craig, and after so many cancellations due to thee weather, what an amazing day for it.

Destination

Went off on the boat trip from Girvan and had a quick tour round the cliffs full of birds before having a few hours on Ailsa Craig itslef. Landed on the pier/jetty just to the north of the lighthouse.

Then we were free to do what we wanted for a few hours!

Had a quick explore round all the buildings.

Then headed up to the castle, where the girls stopped but me and dad kept going.

Continued up the path up the hillside.

Headed up the overgrown path until eventually reached Garra Loch where the bracken thinned out and then it was just a quick push and we were at the top (making that sound a lot easier than it actually is)!

Had some lunch, then just headed back down the way we came.

Headed back along the beach, met the girls, then did a spot of fishing (well dad did) and went home :( .

Did a double take when I saw this report, as I couldn't believe the operator would do this after the end of October. Then saw the date. Did this in June, and really enjoyed it. The down side is waiting to be sure of the weather. We live on the east, and twice went across to Girvan especially for a trip before hitting the jackpot. Quite reasonably the operator prefers a full boat, so if there are only a few of you, you may find yourselves gazumped by a larger party of fishermen wanting just to go out to sea to fish.

You got some good pics.
