This is a lovely circular walk. You can start and end in Ballater or park near the roadside substation on the pass of Ballater. Park at the foot of the forest track which leads up to the radio mast to the north of Ballater. Take the track up to where it forks left for the mast, take the right footpath and follow up through the trees to the first top, Creagan Riabhach. From there you can't go far wrong. Just follow the track over the undulating plateau to reach Craig of Prony. Stunning views all around and especially of the East side of Ben Avon. From Craig of Prony carry on due south west to descend past Abergairn farm and the large house of Craggan. Emerge onto the road at the Pass of Ballater and walk back to your car.
