We started the walk from the Clachnaben car park, walking back down the road and taking the track at the first Cottage on the left. This according to the map would lead us to a bridge over the river and bring us to Heatheryhaugh. It led us to the river but there was no bridge, so after a wee bit of searching for the bridge we decided it must have been washed away at some point. It was now plan b and we headed back to the road down to Bridge of Dye. We were now almost 1 hour into the walk as we took the track just after the bridge which led to Heatheryhaugh. Upon reaching Heatheryhaugh we took the path to the right of the farm which later joined another path. We had the Builg Burn to cross before reaching this path which involved a leap from a boulder to get across it. We also got caught in a heavy rain shower at this point. When we reached the other path we turned right and the came to a track, it was here we had a wee chat with some mountain bikers before heading up the track to the right, which led to the summit. We had lunch in the large sheltered cairn before returning via the route of ascent, with again the Burn crossing the only obstacle on the way down.

Very interesting, I never realised there was anything worth climbing to the East of the usual route up Clachmaben. I must try it sometime but in the nice weather in the Spring. Don't fancy it much at this time of the year. Thanks for the idea though.
