After the scorching hot weather we'd had, a cooler day was welcome. Ben Vane 915m/3004’ proved to be rather more "interesting" than I'd expected and picking a way up through the rocks that guard the summit required attention. As it was, I found myself making some interesting moves (Foot up by right ear, then pull like hell with the right hand whilst pushing downwards with the left - that sort of thing). The guidebook doesn't lie, you just need to find the right line! I made note, and found a less exciting way down. This is a fine little peak and really enjoyable.
