This was my second attempt at Bishop Hill, tried last week in the 'changeable' weather, got to about a couple of hundred feet from the summit & gave up, visibility & rain were worsening as I got higher, so made a quick exit downhill :(
So the plan was to tackle Bishop again this morning, only 20 minutes from my front door so it is going to be my "new" training hill. Weather forecast was good so an early start was the order of the day, I knew it was going to be a tad damp underfoot, as there had been yet another sprinkling of the wet stuff overnight.
Parked in the church car park in Scotlandwell (again) & set off just after 9am, sun shining what could be better.
The walk is signposted from the main road & after romping up about 30 or so wooden steps, there is a well trodden path however the overnight rain had made the path muddy/slippy.

There is a good path all the way to the summit, however the path does split in quite a few places & as the cloud was low over the summit, rather than get my map out of my rucksack I made an executive decision & it took me up to a smaller summit. Having said that the path to the real summit was well defined & only took about 5 minutes to reach.

A nice little walk, really enjoyed it & will definitely return & hopefully get a view.

Met a lady running up there with a dog, so if it is going to be your training hill, you may meet her quite a bit. The real summit is several hundred yards away from the weather radar thing (or whatever it is) But you knew that.

Did this walk today. Great, views spectacular, despite battling against a bitterly cold wind. Note - stage 4 as per Walkhighlands webpage- the stile referred to on this stage has been replaced with a metal gate.
