Bidean nam Bian & Stob Coire Sgreamhach - Glencoe

Glencoe has much to offer walkers... from the pinnacles of the Aonach Eagach to the beautiful peaks of Buachaille Etive Mor, but none match the pure scale of Bidean nam Bian...

Bidean nam Bian is the whole range of peaks on the south side of Glencoe... This amazing massif offers unbelievable
views, challenging terrain and some easy scrambling...

It didn't take long before gaining the eastern ridge of Stob Coire nan Lochan...
With the weather improving and the clouds dispersing, the day ahead was looking promising...

The lower slopes of Stob Coire nan Lochan soon gave way to the rough, rocky and bare eastern ridge...
The initial scrambling was not serious...

Stob Coire nan Lochan - East Ridge

Shortly after reaching the summit of Stob Coire nan Lochan, we were given our first view of Bidean nam Bian...
The views towards Diamond Buttress and Collie's Pinnacles where simply outstanding...

After a short fuel stop, we began to climb...
From the Bealach it is a short and straight forward ridge to the summit of Bidean nam Bian... This section is steep in places, but height is gained quickly...

I soon reached the summit of Bidean nam Bian... rewarded with panoramic views in all directions...
Crystal clear views towards Nevis Range, Mamores and the Aonach Eagach to the north...
The views towards the Buachaille's and Glen Etive were incredible... Simple beauty!

Descending Bidean nam Bian is straight forward...
A wide ridge descends down to Bealach Dearg providing amazing views of the Lost Valley...

Looking back towards Bidean nam Bian, we can see the dramatic Lost Valley Buttress... This truly was an impressing sight!

Stopping for a short break at Bealach Dearg we reflected on the day...
With the last summit of the day only a short 20 minutes... We blitzed Stob Coire Sgreamhach!
This is an easy ascent with no difficulty...

At last, I had reached the summit of Stob Coire Sgreamhach...
With no major effort I was able to enjoy the sensational views and the incredible weather...
After taking some pictures of the surroundings I began descending...

The descent through the Lost Valley is amazing... the history and views make it a very enjoyable route down!
100% success!

This truly impressive range of hills had given me an unbelievable experience...
The weather was perfect, and the views speak for themselves!
A wonderful day in the hills with everything a hillwalker looks for... Character, challenge, views & unique experience!
