Walkhighlands

Stayed in Uig and the Storr was our first walk. Very hot day but ground was damp underfoot in places. Walked to the triangulation station by the route described and yes the path through the wood was very well laid out. The views as you climb are fantastic and a real treat at every stage. It was a very hot day and it is easy to get burnt quickly and it can't be said too many times take plenty of water!!! Walking down was difficult as there are no clear paths and the ground very soft, the route through the crag is not clear until you arrive at it although you can guess it's location from the terrain and/or a map. Descending through the crag is tricky but straight forward even though it looks more difficult than it actually is. The last walk to the road is the worst part - wet and very uneven and seemed to go on for ever as did the 450yrd walk back to the car park which is up hill just to finish you off. Fantastic walk though. And so many only walked to the 'Old man' when an hour more take you to the top.

Just to mention, make sure you cut off the path as you reach the far side of the Corie and walk up the grass slope it is easier but not obvious.

Finally we went to the Ferry Inn at Uig for a well earned meal. This is not good value as the food was very very average if not down right poor but prices were premium. Two complaints whilst we were there! Just don't expect too much if you still go there despite my comments.
