First day of our week in the Lakes, staying near Dockray, and we decided to break ourselves in gently with a couple of local short walks to tick off outlying Wainwrights.

Parked at the Hause

The weather was not looking particularly promising as we parked up at the Hause below Little Mell Fell, but since the ascent was so short we elected not to take full waterproofs or lunch with us.

Heading up Little Mell Fell

The first few yards were a little muddy, but we soon reached open hillside and headed straight up towards the summit. We had barely got started when we reached the summit - even the kids complained it was too easy.

Back down the same way, just about beating the drizzle. Original plan was to go on to Great Mell Fell, but we decided to go to High Rigg instead, then on to Keswick to get a new jacket for Lorraine, as the old one was not handling the wind well.
