Sgurr Eilde Mor & Binnein Beag
Posted: Sun Apr 20, 2014 4:53 pmWe set off from Alexandria at 7.30 which meant we were ready to set off from the car park at Kinlochleven at 9.30. The last time I was hear we took the wrong route through the woods and got lost costing us time. So taking more care we stayed on the correct route as described on walkehighlands and were soon up on the moor heading in for the land rover track and the flank of Sgor Eilde Beag.
The sun was shining and visibility could not have been better so the rout was clear although further round the flank of Sgor Eilde Beag the path has been wiped out by an avalanche or mud slide for 200m.
With snow on the hill the views were spectacular as we headed for Binnein Beag. I found the ascent up this 2nd lowest of the Munro’s a real struggle my own fault for not being out much for mouths.
I was glad of a rest before we headed back the way we had come until we picked up the path to head up Sgurr Eilde Mor. Again I was trailing at the back of our small group but got to the top one and half hours after the last top so not bad going.
After a quick bite to eat it was off back to the car park the way we had come apart from Jim Milner who took a more direct rout of the hill. We were back at the car for just after 5 with sore muscles and joints. Great day thanks for the company.
