Easter weekend, great weather, no question about it - head for the hills!
I have solo climbed a couple of Munros before so this time i decided to bring along a friend, his first Munro of choice was Ben Lomond and what a good shout it was!
Started the day off nice and early and chose to take the tourist route up and take the south-west to Ptarmigan route on our descent. With the weather being as nice as it was the views were spectacular, and with my friend never having set foot out of a city he was in awe with the surrounding landscape.
We pushed on with the ascent, it was a busy route with it being Easter and so many people taking to the hills but we made good time getting to the summit. There was still snow as we approached the summit and stopped to get in some good photo opportunities!
There was a good crowd at the summit, we took the must have shot at the top, took in the amazing views and had some lunch.
Now for my favourite part of the walk! The descent down to Ptarmigan with a view of The Cobbler. The path is rather zig zagy and can get tricky for someone who is new to the hills but i definitely recommend this as a must try route. The view is just incredible.
We made it up and back to the car in roughly 4.5 hours which i was happy with especially with my friend never having set foot on a Munro until that morning! A relaxing break by the Loch with a cold drink to take in the view.
This is a great Munro to climb, its not challenging and the views are rewarding.
On to the next one!
