Really enjoyed this fairly short day, despite the iffy weather. Route description very accurate, but the JMW is very well signposted. One change does need to be made, I think. The descent from Gouk Hill, after the end of the track, has not as yet (mid May 2014) been improved and in wet weather is pretty lethal - great care is required on a steep grassy and muddy hillside. Fabulous views of Loch Lomond on the walk down the Stoneymollan track

Agree re Gouk Hill descent. Tried to choose a better way down and ended up losing touch with the main path. Felt like a hobbit in Mirkwood until I thankfully found the way again.

There is a small viewpoint detour to the left at the top of the pass, and that is well worth taking, even if you are a bit tired from the climb. Fantastic views of whole panorama of Loch Lomond and it was easy to take wonderful photographs which are still being used as screensavers. You are looking right along the fault line over various islands in the loch and then up to Conic Hill on the other side.

We have just done this section in fine weather (1/5/21) and wouldn’t know if the descent has been improved but for an old codger (60) like me it was tricky.

I've done this section twice. Once in 2014, and again in 2019. Oh yes, it has been improved. Beyond recognition.
