Mt Keen in the Sunshine

Made my first Munro of the year, Mt Keen from the South. I've previously done it from the North by bike, but this time thought I would walk it from Invermark for a change of scenery. The car park is at the end of the road effectively and there's no parking charges to worry about. I got there just before 10am and was surprised how quiet it was for a weekend with fine weather.

First view of the summit:-

Looking West up the Water of Mark:-

At the bottom of the first real climb:-

And looking back the way I came from the same point:-

Summit cairn:-

Lochnager to the West from the summit, still quite a bit of snow, even a couple of patches on Mt Keen:-

My local hill, Benachie in the distance:-

Starting the descent towards Invermark again:-

Looking down the glen again:-

Obligatory Queen's Well photos. I certainly wouldn't have drunk from it!

Was surprisingly quiet I thought for a weekend, only saw a handful of groups, though one seemed to be a university walking club or something judging by the couple of dozen or so people in it.

Not done it this way but did enjoy doing it from Glen Tanar and that lovely cycle to its base.

Well done on your first munro of the year.

Thanks, going to try and get out a bit more this year and start chiselling away at the full list. Yeah it's a great ride back down the hill, though bumpy in places!
