Blustery Two In Glen Feshie
Posted: Sat Jun 07, 2014 6:49 pmI was toying with the idea of doing one of these two, then decided late yesterday afternoon to do both and to drive up late last night, sleep in the car and set off at first light.
I had this great idea of have my porridge and coffee before setting off but as soon as I got out the car I was plagued by midgies, binned that idea and had my fruit salad instead. By the time I was ready to go it was 0430 and set off down the road, cut on to track and away, I puffed and panted my way up the path, taking the opportunity to take a few photo's.

It's a pretty good path that winds its way up through the forest and traverses the hill before the final pull up to 1030M where a cairn marks the way

I headed left and the plateau gently rises and falls on the way to my first target of the day Sgor Gaoith. I could see the whole way over the rocky outcrop that juts out, however on arrival, no cairn, is this the summit? Must be. I went to check the map as though the GPS said I was there, I was having doubts, rooting through my rucksack, no map
I later found out that I'd left it on the passenger seat after looking at it last night
Not being 100% that I was on the summit, I took a walk over to what I found out later is Sgoran Dubh Mor. Looking back from this summit, I was definitely on the summit earlier.

I made my way back over the plateau towards "The Cairn That Points The Way" taking a break a wind shelter to apply some sun screen and have something to eat and a fag. When I reached the cairn, I noticed another another path heading straight over, curiosity got the better of me and I went for a wander, the path seemed to make its way through the peat hags and there was no way I was going that way. I did however stumble upon an almost completely enclosed wind shelter, complete with roof.
I traversed back round towards the path I had originally plotted and follow the ladrover track towards my 2nd target of the day, this part although long really is a bit nondescript, landrover track and erm, landrover track, before long I was on the final pull to the summit.

The way back was bloody long and arduous, my feet were complaining about the surface and because my boots hadn't fully dried out from last weekend, about being steamed as well, although once down on the glen floor, it's a pleasant enough walk through the forest and back to car park.
