19th. July, 1975:
With a couple of Munros behind us, Beinn Eighe was the next objective on a ten day trek from Killilan to Ullapool – an easier objective than it is these days because, in 1975, the mountain consisted of only one Munro.

Midge-bitten to distraction camped by the river in the valley bottom, we didn’t leave Glen Torridon until late but made good time up to Coire Mhic Fhearchair which, for the bunch of inexperienced schoolboys that we were, was an awesome place. A visit to the main summit of Ruadh-stac Mor was accomplished with indecent haste (up the scree, along the ridge and back to the tents) before we settled down for a night of wind and rain.
