Last Catch-Up - Starav Five

The last push - Allison had 5 hills outstanding before we can attempt compleation - so it was off to Glen Etive and a date with the mighty Starav. I'd done these hills last July on a scorching day and remember it as a long haul. Today's forecast was for fog. Set off at 6 and arrived at the walk start about 8.30, having driven a bit too far and missed the parking spot. Very muggy close air when we set off, midges and clegs out and about. It was a indeed long haul up to the top of Starav, a wee jink along the ridge then down to Beinn an Aighenan. I'd forgotten just how much height is lost from Starav to Aighenan - didn't summit til after 1pm. Then back up to the bealach and the grassy pull up to Beinn Glas Mhor. Rocky descent thru the mist then straight up the other side of the valley to Stob Coir an Albannaich. A pretty hill when viewed from the east, impressive with the sun back lighting it. Down to the baelach and up Meall Tarsuinn before the final rounding up of Meall nan Eun. A lengthy descent along the glen, making sure to avoid the bits of crags. Some excellent clusters of Sun Dew plants in the lower reaches of the descent. Back to the car just off 11.5 hours - long day. Perfect summer's evening - stopped off at Good Food Cafe for tea and just made the 10pm cut off for the A82 closing.

How and where did you achieve a max speed of 13.4kph - that's a really fast jog!!

The pics of Starav make it look very attractive - now on my to-do list :) .

Nice one, now for the final hurdle

The cloud formations are very similar to what we experienced yesterday, kind of lingering, forming & then dispersing :o I daresay there is a technical/meteorological term for it

Nice one Weasel, looking forward to hearing about you compleating, you and Alison have fair grabbed the Munros but the scruff of the neck! Your Skye report is fantastic, will be using it a reference in the coming seasons. thanks

Very similar conditions that I had in the Mamores on Saturday - really humid and roasting hot! Super photos as always Al.

Well done you two for reaching the 280 point - An Teallach is a fantastic mountain to compleat on - pick a great day weatherwise, and linger a while, to reflect on your achievement. 8)

Another great tally :D Starav looks appetizing, the "fun and games" type - right up my street... I love little rocky ridges. Another group of M's still "to do" and definitely high on the list.

So now time for The Forge? May the weather gods be with you and grant you perfect conditions  AT is one of the best mountains in Scotland and to finish your round on it - wow, a double pleasure.

I'm aiming for a nice hill to celebrate my half-way (now 3 away, after adding 2 Sgurrs on Sunday), but it can't be An Teallach as I have already done it   Maybe one of Skye peaks, if I'm brave enough...
