Yeah that path was better than i had expected. The haul up CMD's E Ridge was fun

Looks like a nice walk out down the Coire though

Thanks mate

We did meet them just after they'd got up onto the plateau. Had a wee chat about rucksacks then went our separate ways

Thanks Sarah, looking back it was tremendous to do. I'd like to go back to the Lairig Ghru on a better day weather-wise from a photography point of view, just not walk as far

Devil's Point is a fabulous viewpoint with a camera.

A great effort JP. The Cairngorms day must have been tough, and then towards the finish of a gruelling weekend you had that bouldery slope up the Ben. Well done. And those sheep might just be the highest in Britain.

Thanks Simon. Saturday was the toughest day by some way. I'll have nightmares about that ascent to Ben Macdui from the Lairig Ghru for years

As for the sheep, definitely. I got some jump when i turned round to see them all lined up staring at me just below the summit

I was struggling for motivation on the latter part of Saturday's walk, it was hard going, especially doing the last few miles in constant rain. Sunday was great though, a friend came up from England to join me and that really helped. The descent off the Ben never gets easier though

They do help slow down lactic acid build up, though if you're knackered they're not going to cure that, as i found out when ascending Macdui. :?

I got the high caffeine version is probably why i was still wide awake after nearly 17 hours of walking.

Amazing route!

This walk report actually inspired me to plan an adventurous training package for my squadron, based at 39 Engineer Regiment, in Kinloss, Moray.

We were a bit more constrained for time, but we managed to complete the top 8 in under 36 hours, finishing on Nevis.

Day 1 was the exact same route as your Cairngorm route, but we did it in reverse and finished at Rothiemurchas Lodge for the night.

Day 2 started the same as yours, along Glen Nevis, but we lost the path After crossing the bridge and so we ended up going straight up the southern (very steep) slope of Aonach Beag! Submitted Aomach Mor as well, then dropped down by the ski slopes, round northern edge of Nevis to meet the tourist track at halfway loch. The rest is self explanatory haha.

Just wanted to say thanks for the inspiration, we started with 12, but only 7 summited Nevis. It truly was a demanding but rewarding route!
