This is the first of five short walks Lindsay and I made while we holidayed in the Lake district. We booked a pitch on a campsite in Braithwaite for our stay.

This walk starts from the campsite. After leaving the campsite we made our way towards Braithwaite lodge, as you approach the lodge you can see a clear path up to the summit of Barrow.

As you can see by the sweat on my t shirt it was a very hot day, but well worth the climb as the views were fantastic.

After leaving the summit we made our way down to Barrow door and then along the path back to Braithwaite.

Hope you nipped into the Royal Oak on the way back! :)

I only have vague memories of climbing Barrow. It was my 8th Wainwright of that day and the weather deteriorated between Outerside and Barrow, so good to see some pictures of how it can look when the weather's being kinder. Thanks.

Royal Oak was our first stop, my lager never touched the sides. Glad you enjoyed the pics. :)

When I first walked Barrow it was a red hot day one May, many years ago!
It was a great reminder to see your photos
