I left the King’s House following a massive breakfast, I would thoroughly recommend the climbers breakfast, very filling but it didn’t half set me up for a full day in the hills. I drove down Glen Etive and parked near Coileitir, it was another beautiful warm and sunny day. From the small car park I crossed the River Etive before turning left on a good path and then headed up Glen Ceitlein as far as the bealach where I met an elderly gentleman. As we were both heading for Meall nan Eun we climbed the steep ground onto the summit plateaux together and headed off to the summit.

As I was continuing I left the small cairn and descended to cross Meall Tarsuinn before heading up the steep grassy rake which still had considerable amounts of snow in it. Once on the ridge it was a straightforward walk to the summit of Stob Coir’an Albannaich.
From the summit I set off for Glas Bheinn Mhor which was quite straightforward albeit with a considerable amount of height loss and re-assent. I was feeling it in the legs now but I pressed on looking for a good bivvy site high in the hills near the bealach leading to Beinn nan Aighenan. I eventually settled on a reasonably flat area of grass sheltered from the keen wind by a huge boulder.

From my bivvy site it was quite easy to descend to the bealach and up the steep rocky slopes of Aighenan. I retraced my steps to the bealach and headed off towards the low point on the ridge before tackling the steep section towards Stob Coire Dheirg past the unusual rock band. The next section involved some easy scrambling which made it more interesting which led to the summit ridge of Ben Starav. I stopped at the ridge admiring the view when I was joined by a snow bunting on the scrounge for some titbits.

From the summit it was a long descent back to the car followed by the short drive back to the King’s House Hotel where I had a bar snack and a couple of soft drinks before heading down to Glasgow in preparation for my final 2 Munros tomorrow.
