An easy walk following the Coast to Coast route up to the summit of Nine Standards Rigg and then back again by the same route. A good stretch of the legs after two fairly big days on the Saturday and Sunday.

Not much description is needed of this route and it's pretty fool proof in all weather but is best saved for a good day as the views are terrific over to the Dales, Howgills, Eden Valley and the Cross Fell/Mickle Fell Massifs.

Start of the Coast to Coast road/route from Hartley

You could drive up the road but it's easy enough and pleasant just to walk along it to it's end.

Wild Boar Fell.JPG
Shapely Wild Boar Fell is in view for much of the walk.

Details of the various Coast to Coast routes at the end of the road.

Good track after the road.JPG
The road is followed by a good path.

Nice Dale walking.JPG
And pleasant, easy to walk on, grassy paths.

Easy route to follow.JPG
As I said earlier, it's an easy route to follow!

Standards in cview.JPG
Eventually the Standards come in to view and always appear closer than they actually are due to their size.

The path brings you out right next to the famous cairns.

Trig.JPG
With a view indicator set a little further back and the Trig Point further back still. Looking back here towards the Standards and the Eden Valley.

A very good, easy to follow route up to one of the more popular Dales fells.

Hi Broggy1

Did this as part of the C2C last month. The climb out of Kirkby Stephen was a bit steep as you pass the quarry (or at least it was after 5 days walking).

You chose a good point to backtrack to KB, the terrain after the trig point gets a bit boggy.

Nice hill and as you say, really good views from the top.
