Starting from the car park near Idwal Cottage, there's a good path leading up past Llyn Bochlwyd to Bwlch Tryfan.

From here I decided to take the steep path which goes up to the left of Bristly Ridge. The upper reaches of this turned out to be unpleasantly steep and loose. If I was going up here again I would either scramble up the rocks or take the easy way up the Miners' track and the east ridge.

The summit of Glyder Fach is a big pile of large boulders.I managed to scramble up to the top with great difficulty - and then watched as another guy just strolled over it like it was a garden path.

It was a fairly easy ridge walk from Glyder Fach to Glyder Fawr, avoiding the rocks on Castell y Gwynt.

The summit of Glyder Fawr is another spiky rock formation, but quite easy to climb.

I then headed along the ridge toward Y Garn. I had been planning to include Y Garn in this walk, but by the time I got to the bottom of the scree slope near Llyn y Cwn my knees were starting to hurt and it was getting very windy, so I decided to leave it for another day.

The descent from here to Llyn Idwal is steep but there's a good path most of the way, and then it's an easy walk around the lake and back to the car park.
