A week ago I received a text from my friend Dr. Rossi, who had not long returned to these fine shore's after several years living in China, Tunisia & most recently Barcelona, saying 'fancy a munro this weekend?'. The answer was yes of course.
Sunday arrived, 6am came & we were on the road just after 7am arriving on the edge of Loch Earn just after 8am. We quickly set off & even though the weather wasn't nearly as good as it has been these last few weeks it was still humid enough for us to stop once or twice up the slope for a quick water break. We arrived at the summit just before 10.30am though it was bitterly cold & covered in thick cloud. Out with the coffee & our standard small whisky to salute or achievement before we called it a day & headed back as visibility was too poor to attempt Stuc a Chroin. We'll be back for that one another day.

Please note that hillwalking when there is snow lying requires an ice-axe, crampons and the knowledge, experience and skill to use them correctly. Summer routes may not be viable or appropriate in winter. See winter information on our skills and safety pages for more information.
