Perfect weather for this solo bivvy nineteen years ago on what I often think of as my favourite Scottish hill.
Don't remember too much about it other than the fine views and light and bumping into someone I knew vaguely on the top. They were bound for the pub whilst I was bound for a night on Tom na Gruagaich in a sleeping bag, on a carry mat and under the outside of a tent. Next morning though was overcast but a descent with high spirits brought on by the fine evening and night followed. Had no car then so hitch hiked possibly all the way back to Aberdeen and certainly as far as Inverness bus station as was often the case back then.

Amazing colours on Beinn Dearg. Looks like the Badlands of South Dakota or something 8) . I bet that was a night to remember.

Fantastic set of photos. I think we've lost something since going to digital - like atmosphere. These photos really transport one to the place!

Yes, it was quite a treat, particularly as it was my birthday. Ben Dearg always brings to mind its unbelievably wobbly west end. Fine hill though.

Thanks Annie, glad you like them. Glad I got at least some of my old negatives scanned.

Certainly one you should look forward to I'd say.

Yeah, the light on the hill was great but the sunset itself was a slight anti-climax, maybe because the view west from where I was was really just over a relatively dull slope to the coast. I was quite pleased with the picture of the Horns even if it is something that has been photographed a million times. I'm not sure about the pictures bringing back memories though -they might become the memories if I look at them too much over the years.
