Walkhighlands

Toss of the coin, heads for shopping, or tails for a short walk and unsurprisingly tails won. I drove up to Sutherland to walk Quinag which was a hill on my radar. The route has been well reported on WH so I’ll just post some images (click to enlarge) and a short video showing the route experienced.
I started from the large car park off the A894 at 1030 and walked in a clockwise direction.

A steady ascent over stony ground led to Spidean Coinich summit cairn with steep rocky cliffs and grand views.
Some people visible on the summit as the dark clouds gather.

I followed the obvious ridge with many ups and downs.

I headed back down glen and followed the boggy path to reach the car park at 1530.

Then a pleasant drive back to Ullapool for a decent fish supper then home for 1800 to complete a round trip of 175 miles.

Good day for it, kenny - you've got some excellent photos On my (rather long) to do list - must be nice being so close - your round trip is somewhat shorter than my one way - cheers

Great walk this and a cracking day you got. 3 Corbetts in under 5 hours, don't think there's another trio you can do in that time.

Thanks Neil, I know what you mean about the distance and the big list..and we are very lucky to be based so close to some nice hills..still the tables will be turned when I start going back down south.. Cheers

P.S. Curious to know where your profile picture is from.

Brings back memories... The best mountain of Assynt (maybe except from Suilven). How did you manage it in just over 4 hours? I took almost seven, couldn't resist climbing every rocky outcrop, every little top, explored every hole in the ground, took about 500 photos Big playground for adults

Thanks LJ..the image is of the aurora borealis somewhere up North and I came across it whilst surfing the web..

Thanks BP , I had a good wind...and you are spot on it is a cracking ridge with lots of interesting rock formations with superb views. I have Suilven on the to do list too..
