Ascended from the end of the road below Llyn Cowlyd Reservoir. A fairly straightforward, short day walk (I had to do a 6 hour drive back to Norfolk once we’d got down) although the path was a little tricky to find in places – it’s quite narrow and the bracken was more than high enough to conceal it completely in places. A complete contrast to Snowdon (which we’d climbed the day before) rougher, and more undulating taking in the North Top 634m (2080’) on the way to the main summit 678m (2224’). It was also much quieter (we had the mountain completely to ourselves save for one small group that we met on the descent) and below the cloud level all day, which was sitting at about 850m (2800’) all day, so we had good views throughout. An excellent little excursion if you are short of time, although the drive up and down is pretty tough on vehicles that aren’t 4x4’s (mine stunk of rubber by the time I got it up, and of brake pads by the time I got it down, but I did have four in the car).
:D :D
Weather: clear, dry and with only a light breeze.
