I had a single red balloon left to tick off on the Bridge of Orchy munros, so decided to make a day of it and take the high road to Beinn Mhanach across the Corbetts of Beinn a'Chaisteil and Beinn nam Fuaran.

The ascent and distance figures really don't give the whole picture on this walk. Its also not a technical route and the navigation is straight forward. But ... it was a tough day. It felt like I was either constantly slogging it out uphill or pointing my toes downhill. I know ... that's what hillwalking is, right? Yup, but today it just felt more so.

Despite that ... I would recommend the route to anyone looking to do Beinn Mhanach. It is worth the extra effort.

I like the look of that route, SS. You got some nice photos as well. Some friends and I did Beinn Mhanach last month from Achallader with Beinn a' Chreachain and Beinn Achaladair. So we missed out on Auch Glen. Were the river crossings okay?

The fords were okay. Most were shallow and bedded with flat stones, so easy enough to walk through. The last was the widest, maybe 10/15ft and deepest, but still only just over ankle depth. Full leather boots and gaiters kept the water out :D
