Staying at the Keepers Cottage on the Estate for the week and it looked out on to Deuchary Hill so we had to climb it.
- The view from near our cottage
A gentle path led past Loch Ordie and, at the top of the Loch, we crossed the bridge and followed the track before turning up the hill and starting our ascent.
- Loch Ordie
We continued up the well marked paths through intermittent showers. We looked back to see a stunning view of Schiehallion.
- Schiehallion emerging from the rain clouds
Although there were showers, the day was warm. Infact we were so warmed up by the walk that we couldnt resist a swim in the Lochan near the summit - bracing but refreshing. We hadn't planned for a swim so can't show you any of these pictures!
- The Lochan below the summit
As we made it to the trig, the showery weather gave way to a lovely day with blue skies, light cloud cover and a gentle breeze.
- The Trig
Even though this is a small hill and easy to climb, the panorama from the summit is spectacular, including Schiehallion, Bheinn a Ghlo, the Glenshee mountains and the hills of Glen Prosen, Clova and Isla.
- The Lochan and Schiehallion
- The hills above Dunkeld and Strathmore in the distance
- Schiehallion again - what a mountain!
On the way back down Jess and Alex spent an hour sitting and playing in a rowing boat on the shore of Loch Ordie (letting their imaginations run wild about great seafaring adventures) whilst Kate and I drank in the warm sun and the lovely surroundings.
- Where we stopped to let the kids play
A wonderful walk and treasured memories!
