I'd gone to Harris by myself for a week of easy walking in snow free or lightly dusted hills and got instead a week peppered with power cuts, cancelled ferries and snow storms.

This walk up Roineabhal was in the bitter cold but sun and sprindrift made it constantly interesting if not breathtaking, especially as the view south over the Uists was further and further revealed.
