A short drive over from Dumglow and the hardest part of the walk, finding a parking spot - it's a popular hill.

While sticking on the boots I watched three guys training on the steps. They were sprinting up to the first corner and were having a breather when I got up to them. I was trying to give the impression that I wasn't out of puff having just walked up but I'm not convinced I pulled it off.

The initial climb is fairly steep with wooden steps on the lower slopes, once past the steps the track levels off and the gradient is far easier.

Sharp left turn

On reaching the edge of the wood the track turns right for about 100 yards before crossing a fence and leaving the woods behind.

Once out the woods there is a short climb to a heathery mound, from there the summit trig point can be seen and it is an easy 10 minute walk on a good path.

Looking over Loch Leven - Bishop Hill has disappeared

With a bit of low cloud and snow blowing around in the wind the views aren't great so I only hung around for 5 minutes on the top.

An easy walk back down to the car to finish off a really nice walk. I think I may need to come back to this one as looking at other reports the views really are good from the top. If looking for a quiet hill, this isn't one to go for, probably the busiest hill I've been on for months.

After Benarty Hill I headed over to Luthrie to walk Norman's Law but by the time I got there the cloud was covering the tops of even these small hills and the rain was on so decided to leave it for a better day.

Busy chap today Gordie

If it's any consolation I struggled to park / abandoned my car, also enjoyed the walk up Benarty

Should have been busier FF (if I'd done Norman's Law as well). Frustratingly, when I got home it was a beautiful sunny afternoon.

Hi Rod - the thing I enjoy about this website is I find myself walking in areas I wouldn't have considered before and this was definitely one of those places - great wee (busy) hill.
