Mountain weather were giving winds in excess of 100mph, "mobility tortuous" on the summits. I thought I'd play it safe and go for a trail run to bag Strathfinella Hill in my back garden.
It was snowing heavily as I set off. After a brutal climb to the forest's edge, the clouds began clearing to reveal the Cairn o'Mount and snow-topped hills behind - unfortunately the camera was left at home, but I remember this being an incredible view.
Struggled to find the trig point as it was hidden in the trees. Clearly wouldn't be able to triangulate using this one at present.
The wind wasn't too bad at 404m alt. - think that some of the mountains may have been a goer after all.
Found some good mountain bike trails to the East of the forest - plenty of fresh tyre tracks out. It was muddy underfoot so I'll hold off exploring by bike until the spring.
Happy to find the hidden 'summit' trig point!
