A cold icy trip up to Innerwick and a cheeky wee camp in the picnic area. Had to walk up to Bridge of Balgie as the roads were treacherous for boots never mind wheels  but made it in one piece to the start of Maigheach. A fairly straightforward walk to the top, only some pretty deep drifts of snow to negotiate now and again. Some lovely views with everything looking like a winter wonderland. Back to the road for lunch and decided against going up Oighreag from this side due to avalanche risk and knowing we would have some pretty serious snow to plough through. So we walked back to the car and drove round to the Glen Lochay road with the idea we could climb it from there next day. Camped in our very first ever wild camping spot and endured a very wet and windy night. Next morning we couldn't believe the amount of snow melt. Headed up the start of the Meall Ghaordaidh path then haeaded into hell   Swollen rivers everywhere, dodgy bridges, hidden bogs and streams under the snow, one of which my leg disappeared into and when I tried to retrieve same my foot was stuck. Seemed like an eternity, with lots of panicked digging before I finally got free. Almost had a seriously girly moment :( and just to put the icing on the cake, when we reached the ridge to the summit the wind blasted us almost back to the bottom! Struggled to the top but made it in the end only to be blown off the cairn and smacked myself off a big rock....yeehaa!!!   Returned by the same route much to my displeasure but without incident, fortunately
