A great day for walking so we set off for the layby on the A82 at Auch only to find the snow on the verges made it impossible to know if the verge would be safe to park on so back up the road towards Tyndrum to what I think was the entrance to an area where the forestry guys were working.
We walked back down the A82 then in through the Auch estate to get to the hill, the walk into the hill was made all the better due to the snow on the surrounding hills, the climb up was quite steep from the road all the way to around 500 feet from the top before you get a break, but with the views getting better and better the further up the hill we went and the clouds flirting around the hills it just couldn't get any better. There was a fair amount of ice on the last 300 feet or so, so it was time to try crampons for the first time. What a difference they made once I had actually worked out how to walk with them.
