My first long day out on the mountains! Took the obvious route to the ridge from the small car-park at Pont-y-Pandy and headed up to the two Arans. It's an easy route and in bad weather the fence line should provide a guide, however the weather on Saturday was excellent, fine and clear. From about 12:00 it was exceptionally warm for March at that height. Fantastic views with very little haze across Wales and into Shropshire. the first stop was Aran Benllyn and then on to Aran Fawddwy. On the way down took the route to the east of the fence-line which takes in Erw y Ddafed-ddu.
Took a slow descent as the Ras yr Aran fell race was taking place in the afternoon so a chance to watch some impressive runners.
