Dubbed the "cake walk" because we spent a considerable amount of time on this walk glooping through slurry which had the consistency (if not the taste) of my Mum's chocolate sponge batter mix.
- Great day for a moorland walk. No gloopy mud here.
- Big blue skies
- Bridge over the River Livet. The dog successfully out-poses me.
In short a mud fest, especially around the farms where those pesky sheep had churned up the ground with their little sheepy feet.,
- Sheep. They make the most AMAZING mud. These ladies look on smugly as we wade through sheep-churned slurry
On the plus side, very beautiful place to walk and well worth the mud on an unseasonably (23degress C on the car thermometer) warm Easter Day.
- Did the Bochel circuit several months ago. Bochel to the left.
Were surrounded for most of the walk by curlews, lapwings and skylarks; three of my fave birds (especially the lapwings ).
- Managed to spot lapwings, curlews, skylarks...and a daft border collie.
Bizarre Easter Day for a vicar but as my Rev Hubs is in between jobs he was making the most of the opportunity to get up to the Highlands for a fab moorland walk before he starts his new job on the 19th.
- Sam proving that he hasn't lost any of his Scouting skills.
Best Easter dinner tho': cheese sarnies, crisps, apples and a cereal bar eaten overlooking Glen Livet. Sure takes some beating.
- 23 degrees C in April can have this effect on unsuspecting walkers.
- Glen Livet jump. NOT whisky-aided
Walked by sunburnt David, bright red Sam, filth-coloured Nudge and relatively unscathed me.
Walked in a leisurely 3 hours.
