Chamonix? Zermatt? Glencoe?

With MWIS predicting "an almost certain" chance of cloud free munros, it was time to dip into the "keep it for a good day" list of mountains. Top of that list was Bidean. We arrived in Glencoe to perfect blue skies and an already warming sun. I'm not one for writing much and plenty of people have already covered this route in detail so i'll just through up a few pictures for you all.

























Once at the top of Stob Coire An Lochain the views were, to say the least, extensive. The whole western highlands from Ben Lomond up to Kintail was clearly visible. The Skye and Rum cullin were poking their heads up over Glenfinnan and jura was off to the south. Eigg also made an appearance between a well placed gap in the mountains.

The ridge up to Bidean itself breifly narrowed to delightful snow arete with good drops on either side. The snow however had soften in the strong sun and gave plenty of secure footings.

















The descent from Bealach Dearg was quite steeply banked out and required us to face in for the topmost section. After this waterproof trousers were donned and a long glissade took us right down to the bottom of the slope with only minor course corrections to prevent an unfortunate buttock first collision with cornice debris.
