This is a great opportunity to see the Kelpies up close and personal. You can now walk around the back of the statues and cross over the canal to the Horsebox cafe (toilets) and the pastel-coloured huts. If you take the path in between the huts and then turn left, you can go alongside the fence for a short distance before picking up the directions at Stage 4.
The walk along the A9 is both noisy and boring, although it affords good views of the Kelpies at points. Another time I would be inclined to retrace my steps after Stage 6.
