You too, magicdin!

magicdin wrote:ps when I was dropping down from Sgurr Ban I saw two figures heading to MCMF - would that be yourselves ?

Quite likely it was us, we set off before the folks from Shenavall but dropped off the flat top of Sgurr Ban a bit too soon and missed the path, you probably saw flounder our way down the boulder field :D

Must have been the weekend for long walks - we met a chap on MCMF who had been dropped off in Kinlochewe, had done Tarsuinn, was on his way to Sgurr Ban and maybe Chlaidheimh, and was then walking out past Loch a'Bhraoin

And on the way in on Friday night, we met a guy who had walked to Slioch and back in a day from Loch a'Bhraoin :wtf:

It is an area for long walks - no other way I suppose
I've still got to go back in for Beinn a'Chlaidheimh (Obviously),A'Mhaighdean,Ruadh Stac Mor and Beinn Dearg Mor/Beag
Trip into Shenavall looks the favourite now

Lovely pictures in there. Now I know that track is there, I think I'll be going back to revisit some of these hills from that direction.

Having just glanced at your Munro/Corbett maps, I assume you are aiming for a double Munro/Corbett compleation then? Somewhere in Knoydart?

yes - that is the plan - have'nt quite made up my mind yet whether it is

Ladhar Bheinn/Beinn na Caillich
or
Luinne Bheinn/Sgurr a Choire-bheithe

This year sometime hopefully - want to get "The monkey off the back"

Well that place has had a real good? makeover....see image of it when I was last there.
It doesn't seem to like a bmp image...anyway it was a very basic place especially on a wet evening.

From a' the country roon'
When the ganaboot folk tak' the road
And the yellow's on the broom.

Ah the Yellow On The Broom :) . Have you read Betsy Whyte's book by the same title, gaffr - brilliant read about Scottish travellers

I do recall reading an account of the life 'on the road' through the eyes of a young girl and centered around the 'base camp winter quarters' around the Forfar area. Must have borrowed it...never had it around my shelves. Have forgotten the name of the writer but it was about her early life in a tough environment and the strength of family and friends on the roads.....could also have been the final stages of that way of living in Scotland. Must be the same book!
