After we met at Creise two weeks ago and exchanged our contacts, we arranged to do another Munros together with Ricky and his dog Solo. I chose Glen Spean area, got all essential info about the route, start point, parking etc. and prepared for the way. It was a week day, so I wanted finish early and get back home in the good time afternoon - it means to get there very early and start the walk in darkness as the daylight is shorter in November.
I met Ricky and his dog Solo at Tesco car park before 3:30 am and then we continued together by my car. Heading the north via Stirling, Perth and Dalwhinie we left the A86 shortly after Loch Laggan reservoir. Used the narrow road we parked near An Dubh Lochan in darkness. Started the walk carefully around the little Loch with a torch in hand, we overcomed some wire fence and first short ascent...Then the daylight came finally and we were able to make some photos.
- Meall Cian Dearg ahead - first serious ascent on the route
- Ricky & Solo, our start point behind in the distance...
- Steepy ascent, but with a path...Loch Treig and Stob Coire Sgriodain & Chno Dearg behind
- Looking back...Loch Treig in the bottom
- In the higher level finally...Stob a'Choire Mheadhoin ahead
- The weather changed, in the wrong time - unfortunatelly near the summit...no view around
- The summit of Stob a'Choire Mheadhoin - 1st Munro done
- Between two summits...looking ahead to the Stob Coire Easain. Weather changes many times during the way
- Some clearer views in the lower level between two Munros. Stob Ban & Grey Corries
- ...and view of the other side with Loch Treig
- Posing before the nice scenery of Grey Corries
- 2nd Munro - Stob Coire Easain summit...Ricky enjoying some refreshment
- Summit photo together...nice cliff behind
- the sky is changing still again
- The Corries from the descent
- The view over the stream
- Stob Ban and the Grey Corries from distance
- Solo is leading us back to the car park
- Posing with the Grey Corries in the background...getting warmer in the lower level - jacket removed
- Looking back again. We decided this way via the slope angle to avoid some very boggy grounds in the bottom and some wind on the top
- Looks like Solo made this shot...but there was a big flat stone for the self-timer by camera
- Closer back to the start point
- Somewhere there is the car ( as we hoped ) over the Loch
- ...and it was ! View over An Dubh Lochan from our parking place
