Set off from car park and at the division of the paths I stopped to check the route from my printed out ‘walk highlands’ notes. A man returning from the summit asked if I was ok. ( I suppose I looked rather stupid, half way up a mountain consulting a piece of paper and sending blackberry messages, T mobile only works on Skye above 400m.) he was insistent that the correct way was straight ahead I insisted that my paper said ignore the path going straight ahead and turn right, and no I did not want to borrow his map, yes I had my own and I could use it. So slightly dubiously I turned right and ascended, but the ‘walk highlands’ instructions were perfect and I reached the top comfortably and had 30 minutes of solitude. I was curious about the ‘main path’ and about the tricky section, so set of to return that way, there was a small traffic jam on the tricky section, where I had to guide people as to the correct route, going north to south the route is obvious, going south to north the path leads you too high for the little ledge, these people were incredulous that there was another route up the hill. The way down on the main path is very steep slippery scree and rocks, not at all pleasant. Best left to non ‘walk highlands’ persons.
