The last minute climb

Its the usual thing a weeks holiday in Scotland a nice cabin at the end of the road at Bohenie in Glen Roy (found on this web site link). Did the home work before going and had noticed that the wee hill above the cottage was a Graham. On arrival late on Saturday afternoon had taken a short stroll allong the track into Gleann Glas Dhoire and could not help noticing that the climb up to Creag Dhubh from the track via Meallan Odhar would not be to bad. As usual the week passed with other plans Cycle route cycled, Munros bagged, through paths walked. Friday dawned a cloudy day with forcast of rain showers. Another trip on the bike was decided on through the forests down to Fort William (if heavy rain started plenty of stopping places for wife to rescue me in the car) Overall was not to bad just light showers till mid afternoon then heavy rain in Glen Nevis. Decided to call it a day and returned to cottege. Stopped rainiing as sorted the car out ready for return home on Saturday. By 5 o'clock the sun was splitting the trees what to do? The hill behind was calling.

Set off allong the track to Gleann Glas Dhoire and just after the highest point at a small quarry cut off over the open hill side towards Meallan Odhar. One small fence to cross and then picked my way over the numerous little ridges on the side of Creag Dhubh to reach the summit. Typical by the time I had reached the top the sun had gone and the wind was blowing. Decided a direct descent to the trackby the side of the wood above Bohenie was the best route down. Going great until suddenly a new electrified deer fence appears in front. Luckily the path marked on the map running around the hillside does exist and is above the fence. Followed this round to the track junction where a gat had been installed.

Passed through to find reason for new fence is a newly plantted wood. Followed the strewam down to Bohenie after passing through another electrifed fence to return to the cottage in time for a shower a quick trip down to the pub for that last steak before the long trip home.

A worthwhile last minute desicion to do another quick hill
