As a variation on my normal route in the Pentlands I tried this circuit for the first time yesterday by taking in Hare Hill and Black Hill rather than the long trudge back along the road by the reservoirs. Both Hare Hill and Black Hill have lots of good clear paths but are quite boggy in a few places, which perhaps explains why they seem to be very rarely walked in comparison to the other hills in the area.

This was a good day out with some steep ascents and a combined height gain of 3,000ft+ in under 5 hours so it's a good work-out for anyone in Munro training mode

No pictures from this walk I'm afraid as the weather was mostly horrible with constant drizzle and fog on 6 out of 8 summits.

The route I have marked over Hare Hill and Black Hill are my best guess at where the paths are as there are none marked on the maps but I have tried to link them to where they join the paths and features that do appear on the map. Once you find them on the ground these paths are really easy to follow as they are mostly old Landrover tracks.
