Congratulations     and fantastic effort! That pictures of the broken cairn makes me laugh each time. I think when I will see it, it will be the cairn broken at your completion   regardless of how long it was broken before.

Ah, canoeing and the highlands, the perfect complement to walking and the highlands. So many lochs, so little time...and many of them have wonderful mountains at the other end, where you can set up camp with a few extra luxuries than you'd take if carrying on your back, and live wild in the country for a few days while wandering contentedly over the hills and exploring mirror-like bays studded with islands. Or more likely, you can find a new level of hatred for strong wind, even more so than when walking!
Get yourself over to the Song of the Paddle forum sometime (http://www.songofthepaddle.co.uk/forum/forum.php), and have a look through "blogs" (=trip reports) on things like Loch Shiel, Inverpolly, Maree, Morar etc, etc (you'll find a few of mine). Its sort of taken over from my hillwalking though - you have been warned!

As for keeping one in a flat, I only have a 1 bed flat too. At first I got an inflatable, which was fine but limiting. So I found a way, and it lives in the communal gardens round the back locked to a bolt in a neighbour's wall. Except that most of the time it lives on top of the car...

Yes my dad trained as a canoeing instructor, but gave it up because he didn't like doing it in the wind
I had clocked that you were no stranger to the water, and had full intentions of grilling you properly about it in the near future
I'll check the link, thanks for posting it up :D

Well done Basscadet. That was the first collapsed trig point I ever encountered. The OS should rebuild it in celebration of your compleating!

Wise words. List-ticking can easily become obsessive and if it does one can lose sight of the real value of the hills. My present Munro tally has taken me donkey's years to accumulate, because I like to repeat old favourites and explore new ways. I think my attitude will be similar to yours when, and if, I eventually compleat! :D
