First post for me on WH up until Mid-April I had only done 2 Munros ,Nevis 3 times and Ben Lomond
I was on Google one night and came across WH site and really enjoyed the reading the reports .
So I thought I would try do some again, well a bit of shopping for correct gear and I was ready
Well up to date now ive done 30 since April and really am hooked
I done the Glenlyon horseshoe a few weeks ago and found that very easy ,so I looked at reports
And decided on the Ben Lui 4 , Well on a rare occurance this year the weather god was good to me
So I set off from the car park at 5.35 (to get up Lui before the heat set in)
The approach took me just over the hour mark ,so was on a good pace :D
With just 3 stops I was on top of Ben Lui and feeling pleased with myself as it was only 8.20
So took a few pics and set off down for Beinn a,Chleib ,
I left my rucksack about 150m before the bealach and headed over to Beinn a,Chleib
That was quite an easy one after Lui ,so took some pics and set off back to get the rucksack
I judged a rough route to contour round Ben Lui to reach the bealach with Beinn Oss
well my judgement needs looked  I ended halfway back up Lui
So it was down to the bealach and had a bite to eat here and take on some fluids
Then set off up Beinn Oss that was quite a haul to the top but managed it without a stop
by now I was actually feeling great legs ,feet all good,
The views from the top of Beinn Oss I think were the best on the walk everywhere you looked was awesome
It was then onto the final hill for the day Beinn Dubhchraig
After the long ascent of Beinn Oss Beinn Dubhchraig was more gentel ,by now my toes were on fire
I met the first walkers here all day had a chat with a couple of ladies on their way down
I headed on up to the top some more pics and decided not to head back down to the cairn on the bealach
So I dropped straight down from the top once I was on the path this is were I found the worst conditions
I had all day bog everwhere, down through the old Caledonian pines and crossed the river to get onto the track
back to the car park
Here I had a very embarrassing moment ,as I walk with my Labrador he decided he would invite himself
into a German couples picnic  But they did see the funny side to it all
PS , I would like to thank Mountain love and Petr as it was ML reports and Petr,s pics that got me out on the hills
I read I a report by ML about Scarpa Zen Pro shoes,i only got a pair yesterday and used these the whole walk
and the were brilliant did carry my boots the whole way just incase

Nice walk, and good to have a hardy companion. We used to chuck stones in the stream for our old Labrador (Treder, now gone to the hills in the sky), he'd spend ages looking for them, tail in the air like a duck until he usually came out with the correct rock!

Thanks for this: these are on my radar, but not yet done, mainly because I keep reading about the horrible bogs!

BTW I like the many selfies......

You might like to think about tacking on The Saddle and Sgurr na Sgine to the South Shiel Ridge if you like good long days - there's probably no more ascent than on this walk you've just done. Also, if you take a bike with you, you don't have to worry about getting a lift back to your car. :D

The Mullardoch circuit is a whole nother thing! That really is a long day, with a lot of ascent - around 55km and 5000 metres of ascent if I remember correctly, and I think you'd have to be doing a lot of jogging to do it in much under 18 hours. If you have any doubts about your fitness, you might want to try something about 2/3 of the distance and ascent first: even if you find you need to bail out on this route, it's a heck of a long walk back!!!

But anyway, good luck - it is a truly wonderful walk. There are a couple of excellent reports at least on WH (in fact it was Andrew Doggett's brilliant report from a few years ago that got me sufficiently enthused to do it) - maybe you've read them already, and they fired you up in the same way they did me....
