Glad you made it back safely, dare I say you could always have rigged up a sail made from the head of a stag and some under garments :) Or maybe not!

Sailing with a mast made out of anthers and sails made of garments? Lol this would be Caberfeidh style! Although in a strange way I can see it

Not sure if walking will be boring, but I certainly started to check more lochs out. :D One of my other dreams is to camp on one of the wee islands on a loch...although transporting camping gear on a lilo is something I need to think about a bit longer  :-D

You could look at putting everything in drybags, then blowing them up before sealing them and putting in your rucksack (instead of squeezing the air out). When my mate had his interesting capsize in Loch Morar, he had a lot of air in his drybags. His rucksack floated better than he did (he wasn't attached to it at the time).

Probably needs a bit of experimentation before you try it :)

Yup, that's nuts! Great adventure, though...

How about Loch Maree to Beinn Lair - that would actually save you a long walk

I believe you can arrange a boat from the Loch Maree Hotel (or could). Possibly safer, if more expensive.

Have to disagree. As ML says in an earlier response, she's an experienced scuba diver; on top of that she had on a wet suit, and the swim is less than a mile. Seems to me no more dangerous than solo walking in clag in winter, or scrambling solo, if you take a reasonable view of the risks. And each of us has a different risk/excitement threshold.

What is life without excitement?

We only live once. :D

 very inventive and resourceful. Thanks for sharing such an interesting story and exhilarating account . For some reason I feel like you have thrown down the gauntlet and we might hear other creative ways to get to the hills. Has any one ridden a cow yet?
