Morrone...beep beep beep

I didn't do the full route, I went up and went back down again. I decided to go for this as I wanted something not too far (needed a sleep-in this morning!) and I haven't done any walks in Braemar so I decided to go up Morrone. First thoughts were it seemed nice enough with the woodlands and duckpond, the waymarkers though could really do with getting replaced. But as I headed up, I could hear traffic from the A93...and even more amazingly I could even hear the reversing beeps from a truck and this was well up the hill! It is not a walk for getting away from it all (expect maybe on a really windy day) as all sorts of noises came up from Braemar below. There wasn't any bird song either to distract from the noises below, I spotted a couple of meadow pipits but they were sitting quietly not even alarm calling. Wildlife seemed to be very scarce, or maybe I've just been very lucky with the other places I've been this year!

There was one plus point to this walk, there were no sheep so for the descent Millie could be let off the lead for heading back downhill. Though she did come scurrying back at one point having heard a motorbike, perhaps she had thought it was on the path (we do sometimes come across them on our local walks grrrr!) but no danger there, it was on the A93!

Advantage of being a dog - any walk is a good walk if you can get a good run off the lead!
