After an almost 5 week hiatus from the hills because of tendonitis in my left foot, I was desperate to get back out, and Sunday's forecast, as you all know, was just way too enticing not to. Beinn Chabhair was the only outstanding Crainlarich munro I'd still to do this year, so set off for the Drover's Inn. Unfortunately, there had been a fatal motorbike accident just north of Inverbeg about 10 minutes ahead of me, closing the road, so I had to turn back, hopes all but dashed.
The detour through Glen Douglas would've added at least an hour on to what was already a late start. No way was I going home though. Thought briefly about going round to Rowardennan for Ben Lomond, but stopped for the toilet at Luss and decided to go up Beinn Dubh, initially just as a quick up and down.
The weather was so good that I decided to do the horseshoe, and once I got to the 'tip' of the horseshoe the view over to Bein Eich and Doune Hill, plus the fact my legs sill had a good bit in them, led me to cut my own path down Mid Hill into Glen Mollochan. Thought about going straight up Beinn Eich from here, but it looked just that bit too steep, so I slung a right. The pathless slog up Doune Hill was a real toughie in the heat, but the wind up on the ridge was more of an issue - ear ache galore! Feint path round to Beinn Eich was pleasant, as was the descent down into Glen Luss and along the road to the car. 3 Grahams and 20K walked on a cracking day - I've got the bug again
