After Minch Moor earlier in the day, I felt like another walk, so drove from Traquair via the lovely Thornilee road over to Stow, past all its flags and marquees and police and marshals and brand new railway station, ready to receive its first train in over 40 years, and up the Lauder Road.

I parked just E of the cattle grid, and headed S, keeping E of a small stand of trees, crossing diagonally over a dyke into a field (and under an electric fence). Then it was easy walking up to the trig point, with a view of windmills to the south, then the usual prominent Border Hills—the Eildons, Rubers Law and a grand view SE to the Cheviot.

I walked W for a short distance to look back down to Stow and the railway (this would be the way to come up this hill if you wanted a proper climb!), then returned to the car the same way. Just before I got back I heard the sound of a train, a sound this part of the world is suddenly getting used to again…
