Did you start from Glen Etive? If so, that's a heck of a river to be crossing - well done, if we're talking about the same river!!

yeah they lost the path through the bracken before the cottage and crossed the river on what they thought was the sand bank ended up waist deep .I only found out when they came spalshing back to my car
