Walkhighlands

My day off during a week day means some short trip always. Originally I wanted do one Munro and one Corbett very close from home, but because of the forecast - much better for the West ( rarely ) I decided for the two Munros from Loch Lochy. Better to use the nice weather and also because of the daylight is shorter every day now...the local Hills can wait for a shorter winter day those munros I had in my to-do list long time, still waited for the right day with a good weather forecast
I woke up at 02:00, started at 03:00 from home headed to the North-West...

I got back to the car park around 11:15 am, there was only one more car...probably belonged to the one and only walker I have met on the bottom of the Glen when I almost finished my Walk and he was going up...Hope he enjoyed the views as it was changing many times there. I was just surprised nobody else there in the mountains in such a beautiful day

Every 5 minutes you've been out walking somewhere! Good photo's though.

I'm off tomorrow so planning a trip to Glen Etive as the weather looks fine

Very useful report for me Petr as I've got a cottage booked from 19th Sept for a week just where the road crosses the canal to get to this walk and was thinking it would be a good half day adventure for me. Great pics too. You're rocketing through the munros this year!

Wow, what incredible weather you had! Your spirits must have been ever heading skywards for every minute after the first view of that cloud inversion.

Isn't it truly astonishing how few folk one meets in the Highlands, even on utterly brilliant days like this??? Saturday was a bit like this, yet after Ben Nevis I encountered 5 people in total!!!

Long may it continue like this!

I decided for the area because of the expected weather there, had a different original plan...but anyway you can trust the forecast and sometime get disappointed...so always happy and enjoying when the views are playing with my sesnses. It's something special by the feelings what can't be caught by camera, but will stay in your memories
It was great last a few days by the weather, unfortunately mostly busy - no many free days to go out...and now it looks like back to "normal" rainy days ahead Worried about my plans for the second half of September ( holiday = finally opportunity for biger trips ) : Liathach, An Teallach, Skye...Aonach Eagach again... as the forecast shows heavy rain every day from next weekend and for those mountains ( scrambling ) dry conditions for the grip on the rock required. But still time and hope for a change...anyway if not those hills, I will get my brother somewhere else...and maybe the Crib Goch - Crib y Ddysgl - Snowdon - Y Lliwedd ( the Horseshoe ) will finally happen as there is the forecast a little bit better - with some light rain only

Totally agree about driving long disatnces for better weather and getting views. Before I started chasing the weather a few years ago I actually did these when chasing Munros, didn't see a thing! It was laden with clag, it rained heavy, and the wind howled. Still enjoyed it though.

It's good to enjoy the walk...the mountains in any weather conditions ( I love winter - snowy - freezy walks and climbs ) and also any more challenging conditions ( overcoming all obstacles...winds-gales in snowy winter )...then you feel the walk by all senses and the glass ( es ) of whisky tastes better then
But the views around from an summit...in clear, silent, peaceful day or night.......the beauty for an eyes, hearty feelings...it's something really very special and makes the sense of genuine life. Something what we will keep remember forever I feel it's not just spending time, using walk in hills...it's real genuine living !

Well, give me a shout if you want some local company!!!

BTW, the Snowdon Horseshore is good; but I would say that the Tryfan/Glyders route is better. Check it out....
And there's MASSES of excellent scrambling...
