Beinn Dorain & Beinn an Dothaidh

Up to the bealach.

Been a while now since I done this walk, but I remember it for at least one bad reason. Was 3rd hike in my new boots, which had been hurting my right foot, for no obvious reason. Had been hopeful it would gradually resolve but, this was soon proved to be wishful thinking only a short way up towards the bealach, leaving me in a fair degree of agony much of the way. A wise man would have turned back and resigned himself to a happier return at a later day!

Anyway, I followed the standard route, though probably detoured off track a little on Beinn an Dothaidh as there was a fair degree of clag here and there, but at least enough for a glimpse outwards here and there, as I worked my way round several tops, with no real risk of getting lost, allowing for me!

I remember it was quite boggy heading SE back to the bealach and now getting more foggy, however decided to press on to Beinn Dorain. The clag closed in, which made the walk seem to last longer than it probably was, with one or two doubts as to route, but eventually popped up at the true summit, where one could make out the A82 below, Glen Orchy and Auch Glen, when the cloud broke, just long enough. Waited a bit, vainly hoping for it to clear for some smashing views, but it was not to be.

Time to put it into gear, reverse, back to the car. I took about 4 and three quarter hours for the trip and spent most of the way back thinking, “what would a wise man have done?”
